Created in the style of a French 17th century salon in 1848 by William Burn for Henry, Duke of Cleveland, the silk finishes of the room had degraded badly.

The Practice provided expert historical research and advised on the reinstatement and refurbishment of the fittings and furniture. New yellow wall silks and pink curtain and upholstery materials were specially woven and embellished with handmade fringes, tassels and braids. Gesso work was dismantled and repaired and the ceiling and woodwork carefully cleaned, restoring the room to its original appearance.
