With a large portfolio of property throughout the United Kingdom, the Crown Estate has many leaseholders who require the Estate's agreement to any building works.
We have been commissioned by the Estate to act as monitoring architects for some unusual properties, where tenants and their design teams propose complex or extensive works to historic buildings.
We see monitoring as a positive and constructive role, where, by commenting on proposals from an early stage, we can help the tenant teams avoid problems and overcome difficulties, particularly with statutory consents. Later, contract drawings and documents are approved on behalf of the Estate, the works regularly inspected and any variations agreed.
