The walled gardens at Tatton Park Cheshire, were once one of the best-known productive gardens in England. Archaeological excavations were undertaken to locate, identify and assess the condition of a number of 19th century garden and service buildings.
It appears that the Orchid House of 1851 designed by Samual Harrimen and heated by hot water circulation, was taken down in 1914 to be replaced by two propagation houses as found on a photograph of 1936.
The practice was responsible for designing a replica of the mid 19th century Orchid House based on a drawing found in the Cheshire County Record Office.
Client: Cheshire County Council
