Part of Wyatville's re-modelling in the 1820s, the room was created in the Louis XV style for George IV by Morel and Seddon incorporating a rich mixture of salvaged 18th century French boiserie panelling with modelled plasterwork and moulded composition and plaster enrichments. The fire of November 1992 almost entirely destroyed the ceiling and caused widespread damage to both the wall linings and floor.

Restoration work involved the recreation of the ceiling including re-used salvaged plaster enrichments, and the repair and conservation of the finishes to the walls. The room's original decorative scheme was restored with five shades of warm stone colour.
