our work includes the enhancement of the Courtyard to cater for major events for

town surveys, In the central section, developing an idea by Dixon Jones, 55
fountain jets are installed, each finger of water being brilliantly lit at night
in up to 28 colours by 4 planning
supervisor services, tiny fibre-optic lenses connected to remote light projectors.
These, with the choreographed fountain displays, were designed jointly by Light
Matters and th, fire protection and security
advice Practice, both being co-ordinated with the floodlights by the central

Lighting the Rows - Chester Appointed to prepare detailed proposals for re-lighting
conversion architects, the City Walls and Chester’s unique
Rows, the Practice had previously enjoyed putting together the Chester Urban Lighting
Strategy for the enhancement of the night time City, with co-consultants, Light
Matters. Many of the light fittings were normal commercial items but it was agreed
that the Rows should have unique, modern Cestrian luminaires historic
building architects, specially designed for them. Vandal resistant, these
were developed and manufactured by Designplan. On site, working closely with the
electrical contractor, wiring and junction boxes were located in unobtrusive positions.
The lighting scheme has been successful in greatly enhancing these unique and
characteristic features of historic Chester. listed building
architects, Cockerell Building Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge Designed
by C R Cockerell in 1834, this is the only built wing of a scheme to house the
University Library, a schools architects, Museum and offices.
Altered in 1904, 1934 and the sixties, by 1995 lack of space forced the University
to vacate, the site being acquired by the College. The university
architects, Practice was commissioned to convert the building to the College's
needs. Extensive repairs and refurbishment were undertaken, access and circulation
