Appointment: Feasibility Study for Brodsworth Hall, near Doncaster
February 25, 2015

Insall have recently been appointed by English Heritage to prepare a feasibility study for the repair of external window shutters and updating of M&E installations at Brodsworth Hall near Doncaster. The hall dates from 1861 and is in the Italianate Style built for Charles Thelluson by Chevalier Casentini of Lucca with Philip Wilkinson as executive architect. The property was acquired by English Heritage in 1988 and opened to the public in the mid-1990s following a major repair programme.
The external window shutters are believed to be the earliest of their type and are rolled into concealed boxes at the head of the windows.  However the mechanism has become stiff, and in some cases inoperable and we are engaged in designing repairs.  The M&E systems are, in some cases due for replacement and we shall seek to incorporate the benefits of technological development since the early 1990s.
