DIA Associate Director Appointed as Board Member of Design Commission Wales
February 12, 2016
Donald Insall Associates is pleased to announce that Elinor Gray-Williams, our Conwy branch lead and Associate Director, has been appointed as board member of the Design Commission of Wales, taking up her role as of 1 April this year. The Design Commission for Wales (DCFW), established in 2002, promotes the importance of good design across sectors, championing better buildings and spaces for current and future generations. Other appointments include Fiona Nixon and Ian Carter; Gayna Jones has been appointed as new chair.
Elinor joined Donald Insall Associates in 2007, helping establish the Conwy branch, where she is now a confident and energetic lead to a team of five as an Associate Director. She is an accredited Conservation Architect, qualified to the highest RIBA ‘Specialist Conservation Architect (SCA)’ standard and specialises in sensitive contemporary design within historic contexts. She has the exceptional ability to marry design distinction, old buildings, and commercial reality which manifests in successful projects such as the award-winning Copper Kingdom Visitor Centre of Amlwch and Plas Coch in Anglesey.
A fluent Welsh speaker, Elinor is passionate about protecting the future of the language as well as promoting sustainable futures for disadvantaged rural communities in Wales.
Elinor comments: “I am delighted to be involved in promoting good design in Wales.”
