Historic England Announce List of Newly Listed Post-War Public Art
January 27, 2016

41 post-war public sculptures across England have been newly listed, Historic England has announced this week, which includes notable works by Barbara Hepworth, Anthony Gormley and Henry Moore. The Insall Historic Buildings Consultancy provided advisory services recommending that the Spirit of Electricity (Geoffrey Clarke) and the Winged Figure (Barbara Hepworth) both merited inclusion on the statuary list, now listed at Grade II and Grade II* respectively.

The stories behind these sculptures and their wider context will be explored in a forthcoming exhibition at Somerset House called “Out There: Our Post-War Public Art” between 3 February to 10 April 2016.
