Insall delivering £2.3m Upgrade of M&E installations at Grade I Listed Plas Newydd
December 13, 2016

Insall have been commissioned to project manage the £2.3m replacement of the single loop heating system in the Grade I Listed Mansion House at Plas Newydd. Plas Newydd used to be the single biggest consumer of oil in the whole of the National Trust (128,000litres of oil per annum) before Europe’s largest Marine Source Heat Pump (300KW) was installed in 2014.  This was coupled with a 50KW photovoltaic array installation on the estate. The Trust also replaced the majority of luminaries with LEDs, installed secondary glazing and provided 1000m² of insulation in the roof space. The final piece of the puzzle is the replacement of the 1930’s single loop heating system with a zoned, controllable and automated Conservation Heating scheme. We are enthusiastic about the educational opportunities that this project will present, including engagement with the local community and educational displays on site during works.
