Lion Salt Works dazzles at the National Lottery Stars, BBC One
September 13, 2016

Last night the Lion Salt Works made an appearance at the ‘National Lottery Stars’ on BBC One, celebrating being crowned by public vote as this year’s Best Heritage Project at the National Lottery Awards, only the sixth award since its opening last June. The Donald Insall Associates team, led by Associate Director Simon Malam, proposed a new use for the site as a visitor attraction, assisting the Trust to secure a £5m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project span 12 years; with the site being designated as a Scheduled Monument in 2003, the biggest conservation challenge was to restore the structures while providing them with the longevity expected of a site with such status.

‘National Lottery Stars’ is available for view on BBC iPlayer.
