New Entrance Pavilion Completed at Caernarfon Castle
June 12, 2015

Donald Insall Associates has recently completed the enhanced Entrance and Ticketing facility at Caernarfon Castle, a World Heritage Site visited by 200,000 visitors annually.

There has been a need to make improvements to the existing visitor entrance to the castle to bring them up to a standard appropriate for a world class heritage site. Accordingly, designs have been developed which not only remain sensitive to the archaeological and historical significance of the monument, but which also seek to amplify the key interpretative elements of why this castle is so unique.

The new facilities are now on show for what is expected to be record numbers of visitors over the Summer. The work is aimed at providing new interpretation of Welsh history in an appealing and meaningful way to a wider audience. It has been funded through the Heritage Tourism Project, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and led by Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service.
