Scaffolding now up at Liverpool’s ‘Bombed-Out Church’
November 25, 2015
The scaffolding is now up to undertake repair works at the iconic Church of St Luke, Liverpool, infamously known as ‘The Bombed-Out Church’. Loose masonry on the wall tops have been dismantled and securely rebuilt. Damaging concrete weatherings and cement pointing are being replaced with lime mortar and Welsh slate; overgrown vegetation is being carefully removed to ensure safety and prepare the church for its next phase of life. Works to the nave are nearing completion and the repairs will continue into the chancel, the chancel arch and the vestry roofs.
