St George, Rodington Awarded HLF Grant for Essential Repairs
February 10, 2016

St George, Rodington, a Grade II listed brick clad earlier stone church, has successfully been awarded £146,000 Heritage Lottery Funding under the Grant for Places of Worship scheme for essential repair works. These will commence on site at the end of this month. It is for essential valley gutter repairs including internal plaster repairs, new rainwater goods and below ground drainage. It also includes a re-ordering with the provision of a new meeting area, toilet and kitchenette.

On completion of works, a touch-screen information point will provide visitors with a rich history of the Church and community stretching back over a 1,000 years and create a heritage hub. This will link local features such as the canal towpaths, and footpaths to places of interest in the area, which enables the church to attract both secular and non secular visitors to the Church and its locality, providing tangible means of engaging with the wider community with heritage as its cornerstone.
