1,000 heritage professionals, volunteers and supporters from across Europe gathered this past Tuesday at the highly regarded Zarzuela Theatre in Madrid to celebrate the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, where seven Grand Prix laureates were announced alongside the Public Choice Award. The restoration of Wimpole Gothic Tower was named as one of the winners of the €10,000 prize, which marks the 16th Europa Nostra Award (including commendations) for a Donald Insall Associates project.

Plácido Domingo, President of Europa Nostra, said: “At a time when the European Union is confronted with many political, economic and social challenges, this initiative has a very special meaning. Cultural heritage, indeed, connects people across generations and across borders, generates economic growth and fosters social inclusion.”
