  Kew Palace - Richmond, Surrey

Built in 1631, this building is one of the first examples of "Flemish Bond" brickwork in the country. Bought by the Crown in 1781, George III and his family lived here. The building is now Grade 1 Listed and a National Monument.

The Practice are architects for the repair of the external fabric, major elements of which include the roof, chimneys, brick walls and windows.

Use of stainless steel pins in the repair of the stressed and previously much repaired brickwork has assured the survival of most of the historic fabric. Traces of original 17th Century brick limewash finish and window paintwork were found, analysed, matched and reapplied to the facades..
