38 King Street, Covent Garden
Donald Insall Associates has been providing extensive and on-going advice regarding this grade II listed building in Covent Garden. Built in the 1770s on the Duke of Bedford’s estate, 38 King Street has been considerably altered over the years. In the early 1830s an auctioneer’s hall was built at the back of the site and this has contributed to what makes the building significant. Our research and analysis has helped to unlock the potential of this site by demonstrating that, aside from the very limited 18th century remains and the auctioneer’s hall, there is almost nothing left of historic significance due to extensive and continuous rebuilding and alteration. Planning permission and listed building consent was granted in 2015 for alterations and refurbishment.
