The fire at Alexandra Palace in 1980 has left much of the building unused, in an unsafe state and in need of major repair works. Following confirmation of an English Heritage Grant,we were asked to produce a Conservation Management Plan for the Grade II building and to work alongside the masterplanners as part of the regeneration team to find new commercial uses for all currently unused areas.
As part of the initial appointment we were asked to look at the repairs to the South Terrace to make this area safe for public access; and to provide
new roofs to the currently derelict east buildings. We have also scheduled repairs to the original 1870s theatre roof and 1920s enriched ceiling, which was one of the few areas not damaged in the fire.
