Baldwin Manor, Cambridgeshire

A new oak-framed extension replaced outbuildings to provide new accommodation that sits comfortably with a Grade II* listed Cambridgeshire manor house, dating from c.1500.

We were asked to provide conservation advice for the main house and to develop a scheme to replace a disused cowshed. Our brief was to provide new living space including a kitchen, utility and shower rooms, and additional space in the roof. This had to be fully accessible and provide level access from both the yard and the main house. The finished result provides an attractive solution to the perpetual challenge of adding modern extensions to historic buildings.
