Burrow Hall, Cumbria

After the restoration of the Georgian Grade I listed Burrow Hall, its owners wished to find a sustainable new life for the coach house, which was separated from the main house by some outbuildings and a car park and storage yard.

Insall has designed an extension which has given the owners a large covered party space behind the retained outer wall of the courtyard, replaced poor 19th century outbuildings and made a covered connection between the coach house and the main house. The glazed structure built behind the outer wall forms a striking connection with our clients’ restoration of the walled garden, with views also over the Eden Valley and the Fells beyond, framed in new openings within the outer wall.
