Classical House, Cambridge
An undistinguished postwar house on the site in a Conservation Area close to the centre of Cambridge was demolished and planning consent was obtained to construct a new 585 sq. m family house, with coach houses either side of the road entrance. These contain additional living accommodation over generous sized double garages, and flank a formal forecourt. The rear garden is designed around a grass tennis court and a swimming pool flanked by two painted timber boarded pavilions. The new classical design is built of handmade clay tiles and bricks, with Ancaster stone dressings. Inside, accommodation opens off a large double height entrance hall with a galleried landing which gives access to first floor ensuite bedrooms. The attic floor filled by the principal bedroom and its associated accommodation with access to a balustraded roof terrace which gives fine views over the city.
