Crockfords Casino, Curzon Street
A Grade I listed Mayfair property 30 Curzon Street was originally built between 1750-1755. Insall were appointed to advise on further changes to enhance its use as a casino/club. Our research, along with site surveys, and paint layer analysis found that over its life it had been subject to wide-ranging re-modelling, alteration and extension including two further major alterations which added to the building’s significant interest. These were that between 1770-75 Robert Adam re-modelled the house for the Hon H F Thynne and around 1900 H T Hare extended and altered the house for Mrs Adair. Our forensic analysis of the building meant we were able to explain precisely where the special interest of the building survived and where it did not. Because of this were able to secure listed building consent for alterations which without could not have been achieved.
