Flint Townscape Heritage Initiative
Flint town centre retains much of its medieval ‘grid iron’ street pattern and, although the majority of buildings appear to date from the later 19th century, some older structures are hidden behind facades. The wide spectrum of economic and social challenges faced by the town today is being addressed by the local authority through co-ordinated regeneration strategies. Donald Insall Associates assisted Flintshire County Council with its successful Stage II Application to the Heritage Lottery Fund to carry out a prestigious THI grant scheme to help give historic buildings a renewed life and purpose.
A key component of the THI application was the detailed Action Plan, which showed how the programme would to be phased and funded over a five year period, and how the individual projects would be financed through private sector investment, HLF grants and other funding bodies
