North Elmham Chapel, Norfolk

Tucked away behind houses in the village of North Elmham, are ruins and buried remains of a medieval church converted to a fortified manor house in the 14th century, surrounded by substantial earthworks. Listed Grade 1 and a Scheduled Monument, the remains are believed to be the Saxon cathedral church of Elmham. Insall undertook an elemental survey of the entire site for English Heritage as part of their ongoing maintenance programme.
