Pembertons Parlour on Chester City Walls
As part of our wider architectural services on the Chester City Walls under the award-winning ‘PORTICO’ programme, we prepared conservation and improvement works to the Grade I listed Pemberton’s Parlour. It was rebuilt in its current form but dates from the heroic rebuilding of the City Walls in the 18th Century and hosts a plaque to commemorate the works of the ‘murengers’. The works include waterproofing the roof, stone repairs, changes to the gate to allow public access and new seating, incorporating the remains of earlier benches. The parlour is once again a place for shelter and rest on the City Walls’ circuit.
