Pembroke College, Oxford
Our work at Pembroke College, Oxford, has brought into use three C17th buildings which were in a poor state of repair, to become popular undergraduate rooms. A merchant’s house in Pembroke Street had suffered from severe structural distress, requiring rear bay windows to be rebuilt. Now known as Staircase 18, this provides eight en-suite rooms and two teaching rooms of immense character. Further down the street, five houses have been renovated with structural repairs to provide eighteen rooms, many en suite, together with four teaching rooms, known as Staircase 16.
The former Master’s Lodge, beside the gate tower, has also been renovated to a high standard to display its excellent Jacobean staircase and has provided high-class undergraduate rooms, a lecture room and two seminar rooms.
