Museum of the Order of St John

A new Museum has been created for the Order of St John in Clerkenwell, where Donald Insall Associates has acted as architect to the Order since 2005.  The Conservation Plan prepared by the Practice in 2007 highlighted an area behind the 1504 Tudor Gateway into the medieval priory, where a 1960s infill structure had been built. By clearing out this infill, and glazing over the resulting courtyard, a “link gallery” was created. The exhibition fit-out was designed by museum design specialists, Metaphor, in finishes agreed with us. The displays cover the Order’s history from its medieval foundation to the founding of the St John Ambulance.
