Private Library, London
Our brief was to fit out and furnish a suite of rooms in a Regency terrace to house a unique collection of antiquarian books.
The Library is housed in two principal rooms, now interconnected. The bookcases and loose furniture, are made of Brazilian mahogany with ebonized and water-gilt details, complemented by a specially designed carpet and Regency-style colza light fittings. The Reading Room has five freestanding bookcases and the largest bookcase incorporates a ‘jib’ door providing direct access to the adjoining Reference Library, which is lined with open-fronted double-height bookcases. Discreet provision for security of the books has been built in to the design.
