Abigail McHardy

Abigail first joined Donald Insall Associates in 2018 as an Architectural Assistant in the Chester office. She has recently joined the Birmingham team after obtaining a first-class master’s degree from the University of Nottingham. Her thesis project on the adaptation and retrofit of some of Nottingham’s biggest landmarks received a commendation for the SPAB and sustainability awards.

Abigail has worked on a wide variety of projects since joining the practice, including Wentworth Woodhouse, Mosley Road Baths, Lord Leycester Hospital, Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Chester Cathedral. She is passionate about the adaptive re-use of historic buildings and has worked on many private residential schemes, helping to create modern interventions within historic settings. Abigail is also a RIBA Ambassador, delivering architecture workshops to schools in the Midlands.
