Club Row, Rochelle School
Donald Insall Associates gave advice to Quinn Architects on proposals for the alteration of the Club Row building at Rochelle School, Shoreditch, London. The former school and its boundary wall are separately listed as Grade II, and both are in the Boundary Estate Conservation Area. The building was constructed by the School Board for London in 1878–1879 to the designs of Edward Robson. We gave advice to the client and design team throughout the planning process, which included an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate following the London Borough of Tower Hamlet’s refusal in respect of planning permission and listed building consent. The appeal was allowed and the refurbishment — which included a new roof — was completed in 2016.
