Donald Insall Associates was part of a team, with Grimshaw Architects, which won an open tender to devise a Masterplan for Hammersmith Town Centre. The tender process included an assessment of our approach by residents’ groups, and the project was strongly focused on consultation and liaison with the local community. We provided an analysis of the historical development of Hammersmith and assessed the significance of the historic environment, including the Thames riverside. We advised Grimshaw on the location and scale of the proposed taller buildings within the town centre and made recommendations as to how the historic environment might be enhanced as part of the proposals. We presented the findings of the Masterplan to residents’ groups, Historic England, the Georgian Group, and other stakeholders.
