Kelmscott Manor

Oxfordshire

Notable for its association with William Morris, Kelmscott Manor dates from 1570, with grounds running down to the Thames. Donald Insall Associates was appointed to repair the building, whose vulnerable construction was in an advanced state of neglect, and to rationalise its twin functions as a family home and show place. The entire house was redecorated using original Morris designs. The work was carried out according to the principles of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), of which William Morris was the Founder.
