Donald Insall Associates was commissioned to transform a dilapidated Grade II* Elizabethan manor house overlooking the Menai Straits into the centrepiece of a luxury leisure park. The entire building was required to be not only a focus for the residents of a new holiday development but also a magnet for new visitors and purchasers of the bespoke accommodation.
When our client purchased Plas Coch, it had serious structural and infestation problems. Decades of poorly executed alterations had severely diminished its architectural and historic integrity. Our brief was to transform the site into one of the country’s best leisure parks, with a pool and spa that were distinctive and of the highest quality. We secured Planning and Listed Building Consent for £18m of repairs and new build, including a major intervention in an important and historic building.
