New design in heritage settings
Design begins by first understanding your needs. We then examine the context: history, purpose, materials, construction, aesthetic qualities, setting, use, and condition of the building or place to establish its significance. Good architecture is borne out of a dialogue, not a monologue. This might result in interventions that increase the environmental performance and resilience of historic buildings, ensuring a building or place remains viable by enabling continued or new uses, or undertaking work to enhance the significance of a building or place.
Our architecture is designed to endure. We believe design is not merely a matter of style, but the realisation of an idea through the skilled deployment of form, materials and detailing. A new building should be made to last, and crafted carefully with the intention that it becomes more beautiful as it grows older.
