Robert Ayton

  • Senior Historic Building Advisor
  • IHBC, MRTPI

Robert joined Donald Insall Associates in late 2021. Prior to this he was head of conservation at Westminster City Council for over 30 years. During that time Robert dealt with many of Westminster’s most high profile proposals involving millions of pounds of development and new floorspace in central London, as well developing policy which will shape the future of Westminster for years to come. A very highly respected conservationist, Robert has brought this unparalleled experience to bear on his current projects, which include clients such as the Oxford colleges of Merton and Magdalen, as well as private clients, and both townscape assessment and listed building work.  Equally happy working in cities such as London, Oxford and Bath, Robert can advise clients based in both the commercial and public sector, and his practice emphasis has been on the impact of large scale development within the historic environment, and understanding Georgian buildings.
