Tom joined Donald Insall Associates in 2022. After studying Physics and then English Literature at the University of Cambridge, and viola at the Royal Northern College of Music, Tom worked for five years as a conservation adviser for the Victorian Society. In that role he helped the Society perform its functions as a statutory consultee for listed building consent applications, offering written advice to local planning authorities in contentious cases. He has extensive experience in the assessment and articulation of significance and harm across a wide range of building types. He is currently completing the MSt in Building History at the University of Cambridge, with a dissertation on Thomas Telford and the Parliamentary Churches in the Highlands of Scotland.
