Milsom Quarter Masterplan
Assisting in the creation of a masterplan in a World Heritage city
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Insall were commissioned to provide a heritage evidence base to assist and guide the design team in the creation of a masterplan for a large part of Bath city centre to be known as Milsom Quarter. Largely under the ownership of the city council, the masterplan aims to revitalise the area to provide a sustainable place to live and work whilst recreating the lost character of these spaces. As a World Heritage city, almost entirely made up of listed buildings, we produced a shopfront appraisal, character analysis, undertook historic research as well as strategies for the reuse of existing buildings, highlighting where opportunities existed to support the vision of the masterplan.
